Since 1965, the family has owned and operated The Aberdeen Barn, an old-school steakhouse and iconic fixture in the Charlottesville community. Started by George Spathos, who arrived in the United States from Greece at age eighteen, The Barn stands alone as a can’t miss dining experience, regarded just as fondly for its impeccable customer service as for its award winning prime rib.
It’s in this spirit of service and commitment that The Barn has hosted countless recruits, players, coaches, scouts, alumni, and fans of Virginia Football, where each visit feels like home, and every guest is treated like family. Its walls tell the story of an enduring connection to the team, while introducing prospective Hoos to the spirit and tradition of the program.
Today, George’s children, Terry and Angela, own and run the restaurant, working hard to uphold the highest standard of fine dining that has defined it for decades — and maintaining a loyal and enduring friendship with generations of Cavalier Football players, coaches, and staff.
